Ich Liebe...: So I keep catching this show on TV, Boston Legal.
And I’m worried I’m just being paranoid, but
It really, really seems to just be pushing the views of the conservative right in America in a curious, concealed way. Like it’s sneakily trying to change the public’s opinion through the most ridiculous and atypical court cases you could think of. And…
Boston Legal…conservative? Conservative????? Boston frickin’ Legal?! Wha…what what…how…how can you possibly…how do you even…WAT.
And I can’t even hope you made a mistake and meant “liberal” because their pushing of liberal views is so obviously unapologetic that no one would ever call it “sneaky”.
Right. Let me assure you I did not confuse Liberal and Conservative views and that my original post was poorly worded and I recognise that.
You’re right that, from what I’ve seen (and I do reiterate that I am not a regular viewer) liberal views are pushed incredibly. That is rather obvious. What I suggested is that this was intended. And in such a way that every legal victory in the show based on liberal grounds is represented as incredibly, and unrealistically, bittersweet. And at that point, all the evaluative conservatism is put out (mostly from Denny Crane, it seems), and the audience is encouraged to take on that view. It may well be much, much more balanced than that, but that isn’t how it seemed. If I’m making no sense, I apologise. It was a passing remark and should have been taken as one, though.
